bereta comic strip - episode 3

It's been quite a ride working alongside the brewers from Bereta, in helping them put their design ideas on paper. I'm quite behind in posting what we've worked on these past few months, so I'll take it one illustration at a time. Here's where we left off, the third episode from their story, put in a comic strip on the side of each bottle. If I remember correctly, this one was on the Citro beer label... yeah, those are long gone. I'm so excited to show you the latest label we've been designing, it's quite complex. Until then though, we just have a few more to go through.

the spacetrip

One thing that has grown and evolved alongside the features of the creatures I paint in this different-kind of portraits project of mine, is definitely the backgrounds. And it makes sense, because each and every one of us has a moment in time that we value, or appreciate, or remember and want to keep alive. But some moments are just imagined, based on the micro-universe we created around us. And today's illustration is just that, a tiny world inside this universe of ours. And since it is star-filled, I cannot help but love it even more.

the hipsters - sticker illustrations

Well, it's that time of the year, for a new round of stickers, which all of you fans out there might have spotted, grabbed and already pasted all over your laptops. And I know, spoiler alert, I've made another big series of designs that was split into two or three parts, but I will go ahead and show you the illustrations I've made and I've divided them by concept. Keep in mind that even though this will be our 14th edition, the sticker packs come mixed with other designs that I've made alongside Ștefan's designs, which I'm sure you already know and love. If you are a bit confused, you can find out more about the latest stickers you can get with your orders on Uman's page and site. If you don't really care and just want them all (and also to stop reading this and see the illustrations) here's the first fantastic five:

the throwback photo

Since it's Thursday, today's post will fit just right with the TBT tag. A fellow artist and dear friend (seriously, you should check her art) asked me to help her with a different-kind of portrait for her dad's birthday. Now, I've worked with photos from which I drew all the features I needed to recreate the characters, then I've imagined a story around them based on their descriptions, moments, likes or places they loved going to. But this time, I've had to recreate a moment after a specific photo, set back all the way into the late 80's, early 90's. I've done this type of throwback portrait before, but this one struck a cord with me, since I could relate so easily with it. I think everyone locally, can do that as well.

the wedding portrait

I've made some unconventional wedding portraits in the past, and surely enough, some unconventional wedding invitations designs, but I've never painted a proper groom suit and bride dress before. And surely enough, it was a challenge. Getting white lace on a white gown and all that on top of white paper is no easy task. But I pulled through and this is the result. And with these firsts I also wanted to try out a colourful background with white floral/ foresty details, to contrast the dress a bit.

rainbow tattoo design

Happy New Year everyone!

It truly is a new beginning and also the start of a new chapter for this blog of mine. I've gathered so many wonderful illustrations and projects from the past couple of months and they've closed the year of 2016 with sense of joy and fulfilment.

I wanted to kick things off with something so colourful to make up for these white days of January. This illustration is a tattoo design for a very artistic and colourful friend and I think it represents her entirely. And we nailed it from the first take so the art is already under the skin. I can't wait to show you the end results.
