deconstructed traditional mask - tattoo design

I got this challenge a while back and at first I didn't quite know what to do with it. I had to draw inspiration from traditional Romanian masks, that some local bands have already used in various ways. So the style was not up my alley but I turned it around somehow. And once it was done, I fell in love with it. This illustration was commissioned as a tattoo design so I can't wait to see it.
