the pink notes

Creating art is always a rewarding journey, but some pieces hold a special place in my heart. Recently, I had the pleasure of painting a watercolour portrait of a lovely family—a talented musician, his stylish wife, and their sweet daughter. This project was not just about painting faces but capturing the essence of their personalities, passions, and the beautiful bond they share.

He is the heartbeat of the family, bringing rhythm and melody into their lives. His creative spirit influenced the warm, harmonious tones in the painting, reflecting the joy and energy he brings into his everyday life. She has a flair for fashion and a keen eye for detail. Her style is a blend of classic elegance and modern chic, always effortlessly put together. Their daughter, the heart of the family, loves nothing more than getting lost in her favourite books. Her world is painted in shades of pink—her favourite colour that symbolizes her sweet, joyful nature.

Making this watercolour family portrait was a deeply personal and thoughtful process. Watercolour as a medium uniquely conveys emotion and softness, which was perfect for this family’s story. I began with light washes, layering the soft pastel colours to create a dreamy, almost ethereal feel that reflects the love and warmth they share. The musician’s section of the portrait features dark blue tones and warm browns, echoing the calm yet dynamic nature of music. For the fashion-loving mother, I used stylish tones of pink and purple to highlight her elegance and passion for fashion. The little girl’s section is a celebration of pinks, purples, and delicate gold accents—a vibrant and whimsical palette that reflects her youthful spirit and her love for reading.

One of the most rewarding aspects of painting this family portrait was illustrating the connections between them. The subtle interplay of their expressions and body language tells a story of togetherness, love, and shared joy.

Art is more than just paint on paper; it's about telling a story. This painting is a tribute to a musician, a fashion enthusiast, and a little girl who loves reading and the colour pink—a visual symphony of their unique world.
